      Industry 4.0 is deemed as the fourth industrial revolution in Germany, and is also a strategy in the Hi-tech Strategy 2020 as issued by the German government in November 2011. Its purpose is to support research, development and innovation of new generation revolutionary technologies in industrial field and maintain the international competitive strength of Germany. The economy of China has high industrialization level, its transformation means upgrade and transformation of industry to a great extent. After development over 30 years, China has set up a complete industrial system and cultivated the global largest demand market by virtue of its good organization capacity. The industrial system of China has a significant strength of developing Industry 4.0.

      Under the international challenges, China actively promotes development of Industry 4.0. As early in 2002, China proposed the idea of "integration of information technology and industrialization", and actively implements such integration in recent years.

      In May 2015, the Made in China 2025 was formally issued after long-term expectation. It intends to transform China from a manufacturer of quantity to one of quality within 30 years by upgrade of traditional industries with financial discount, accelerating depreciation and other measures. In accordance with "three-step" implementation schedule of Industry 4.0, the equipment manufacture industry of China will enter the second group of the global equipment manufacturers, and some industries of China will be large and powerful by 2025; go ahead in the second group and become the true equipment manufacturing power in the world by 2035; enter the first group of the global equipment manufacturers, and become one of equipment manufacturing power with the global influence by 2050.

      China has continually encouraged development in the fields of intelligent manufacture, intelligent logistics and intelligent production with advantaged policy since 2014.
