      • Original equipment means units for factory installation at the time of vehicle assembly.

      • Dynamic sensors are:

      • Low-G accelerometers, which measure normal motion

      • High-G accelerometers, also called crash sensors

      • Angular rate sensors, which measure a vehicle’s motion around one of its axes

      • Occupant detection systems

      • Speed sensors:

       — Engine (camshaft and crankshaft) speed sensors

       — Transmission (input and output shaft) speed sensors

       — Wheel speed sensors

      • Light vehicles are cars and light trucks to 14,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating.

      • North America is defined as Canada, Mexico, and the United States

      • The base year for this research is 2005.

      • Forecast years are 2006 to 2012.
