The U.S. water recycling and reuse systems market is in the growth stage. This concept, which is already popular in parts of Europe, the Middle East, China, and Australia, is just gaining importance across the country. Water reuse or recycling is practiced only in certain geographic regions in the United States. These regions recycle or reuse water primarily because of the following:
Located in arid or semiarid regions
Lack of adequate freshwater supplies
High demand for water due to increase in population
The popularity of water recycling and/or reuse is increasing because of the various associated benefits. Both municipalities and industrial facilities, which are the two major end users, are currently focusing on recycling and reusing water due to its economical and environmental benefits.
This study focuses on the following technologies that are used exclusively for water recycling and reuse purposes:
Activated Carbon systems
Media Filtration systems
Membrane systems
Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems are not included in this study.
